Emma Estelle

Emma Estelle is an emerging artist based in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is a painter and ceramicist interested in exploring ideas of memory and material through paint, clay, and materials sourced from the earth. She refines rocks and minerals found around Arkansas into the pigments she uses to make ceramic glazes and oil paints. The rocks and minerals she uses showcase impurities which occur during the natural process of their formation. These impurities remain intact throughout the refinement process, providing unique characteristics to the final pigments. She refines these by hand via a mortar and pestle, to make her ceramic glazes and oil paints.
